This means that iPhone and iPad users will be able to get a trail version of premium apps before they purchase them. Previously, only subscription-based apps could only offer free trials to users. Apps that did not not have a subscription model couldn’t offer free trials. According to developers, the problem with that was users did not want to buy an expensive app before trying. This made it difficult to earn revenue. "Non-subscription apps may offer a free time-based trial period before presenting a full unlock option by setting up a Non-Consumable IAP item at Price Tier 0 that follows the naming convention: '14-day Trial," Apple said in its new guidelines.
